The Ganon fight is…something, alternating between stupidly easy and hard to decipher. Hyrule Castle seems like a really cool space, but both before and after the Ganon fight, it’s a huge pain the ass to explore with such a pervasive Guardian presence, and it’s definitely not a fun, interesting puzzle dungeon like the Divine Beasts, which I think was a missed opportunity. And there was one memory, one of the final ones I was missing, that showed the King yelling at Zelda for…reasons that weren’t quite clear to me. I did find a few cool things, like a bunch of Royal Guard gear, a few of Princess Zelda’s journals about the Calamity and the Guardians. Sometimes you can cut through the goop, sometimes you have to cheat your way around it by climbing ledges. So instead you’re really just sprinting around, killing things when you can, trying to find your way to the top. Yes, you can kill everything there, but it’s a severe depletion of your resources to do so, and lord knows a Blood Moon could negate all that progress at any minute. Hyrule Castle is less a mysterious place to root around in and more of a goop-laden death trap. Instead, the only puzzle is figuring out how to explore while constantly being targeted by Guardian mechs, turrets and helicopters literally everywhere you go. I was expecting Hyrule Castle to be some sort of dungeon filled with puzzles like we saw with the four Divine Beasts. I…didn’t like it that much? I mean, it was fine, but the final segment, from Hyrule Castle itself to the boss battle with Ganon, was something of a letdown.
